              Walnut Jar
Walnut Jar by Paul Reeves
This large (4.2 litres) Walnut cremation jar is beautifully turned in a modern, simple form with screw on lid, by master-craftsman Paul Reeves. The jar makes a stunning memorial urn to be kept at home but being crafted entirely from wood, it is also suitable for interment in a natural burial ground, where it will gently biodegrade in the ground.
The wood is from a 120 year old Walnut Tree near Winchester, that was half blown over in the hurricane of 1987 and finally succumbed in 2022. The figuring of this spalted walnut wood is a captivating symphony of light and dark, telling a story of transformation and beauty. The intricate lines and patterns that emerge from the spalting process, create a visual masterpiece symbolising the cycle of life and the unique journey of the departed. The mesmerising patterns invite contemplation and create a cremation urn that holds both reverence and beauty. This urn represents the transformative power of nature and is a timeless tribute to a loved one's memory.
